Get ready to create the happiest treats in Chinese New Year - literally! 笑口棗 (Laughing Sesame Balls) & 賀年油角 (Crispy Pastry Dumplings) are two beloved Lunar New Year treats that bring joy and good fortune to the celebration.
Laughing Sesame Balls are deep-fried glutinous rice balls coated with sesame seeds that "laugh" open while cooking, symbolizing joy and happiness. Crispy Pastry Dumplings are crispy, triangular pastries with flaky layers and a sweet filling of peanuts, coconut, and sesame seeds - their name sounds like "higher" in Cantonese, representing prosperity.
In this hands-on class, you'll learn to make these festive treats just in time for the Year of the Snake.
